Middlehurst Road Race & Classic present this 1966/D Lotus Elan S3 SE (Series 3 Special Equipment) finished in Triumph TR3 'Powder Blue' with Ford 'Stratos Silver' hardtop, roll-over bar and bumpers.

Remarkably, this is a genuine 2 owner car from new. The first owner Mr. Roels who purchased it brand new in October 1966, owned the car until September 2018, an ownership length just shy of 52 years!

Less than 50 miles has been covered since a concourse, no expense spared nut & bolt restoration by renowned Lotus specialist Nick Adams at a total cost of over £80,000. We have a pen drive with all of the invoices and images of the restoration from start to finish. No stone has been unturned with the restoration, including a fully rebuilt engine, gearbox, differential, braking system, suspension, literally every single item of this car has been painstakingly gone through and made perfect.

During the restoration some lovely OEM+ style modifications were done including fitting a larger core radiator for additional cooling (as the car was due to be shipped back to Australia), as well as a master cut-off switch in the engine bay and relays in the wiring loom for improved reliability.

The Series 3 Drophead Coupe with an SE Specification Lotus Twin Cam engine is considered to be the most desirable model of all 1960's Lotus Elans and we believe this to be one of the finest and genuine examples in the world. It's truly hard to put into words the level of detail that has gone into the restoration.

We have never seen a stack (literally) of paperwork for ANY vehicle this large which includes all of the original correspondence from Lotus, original 'buff' logbook, the original factory build sheet, the original purchase invoice, along with the roll over bar invoice (which was fitted from new) and MUCH more. Every single thing that has ever been done on the car no matter how small, has all been documented and kept including countless old photographs etc.
